Speeding

So I'm one of the many people who tends to drive 5-10 over the speed limit. No big deal. But the other day as I was driving home from work I started to wonder why I do this. I wondered this mainly because from time to time I tell myself I will no longer speed or at least keep it within 5 mph and inevitably 15 minutes later I look down and I'm going about 8 over.

My first thought was, I just must enjoy driving faster. But then when I really thought about it I can't really tell a difference between 70 and 75 mph. Also when I had a much speedier car and was on long stretches of open two lane road on the way to Manhattan and passing folks I would get up to 90-100 and really it made me more nervous then anything. The nerves come from both the worry of a police officer coming over that next hill to throw me in jail and also the risk of dying in a fiery crash due to my own recklessness/stupidity. So I'm definitely sure that the reason I speed is not due to the love of it.

My second thought was that I'm competitive and I don't like people passing me. Which this may have something to do with it but in all actuality I'm not really that competitive unless I think I should win but truly there are no winners in driving home and if there were I know I'm going to win my drive home since I'm more then likely going to beat the person next to me to my own house. (Although at times I do wonder if people are following me or if they think I'm following them but that's beside the point). So ultimately this may have a little to do with but really isn't the reason.

Then I got down to it with my third and final thought. I really don't like sitting in a car. When I drive there is usually some sort of purpose behind it. I'm usually heading somewhere and I'm usually going there because I want to see someone or get something. For the most part when I get something in my mind I just want to go for it and get it done. Somethings I get excited about and something I just want to get done. Either way this time in a car is a waste for me so in turn I go as fast as I think I can get away with without getting in trouble.

There you have it a useless blog about why I usually speed. Hope you enjoyed.

Taking a trip

In just over 24 hours I will be taking a trip! It will involve two destinations and I'm very excited. The first will be in Las Vegas where I will be learning about auditing employee benefit plans. Very exciting... well not so much but its in Vegas so I can't complain.

After I complete 3 and a half rigorous days of training in Las Vegas I will be heading off to sunny Cancun Mexico to celebrate the nuptials of Courtney Kelly and Brian Seacat! I'm very excited for this one because it should be a great 4 day trip to a more exotic location and will be joined with people I actually know. I will be rooming with my beautiful wife and her/our wonderful friends Ashley and Caitlyn. We should definitely have the most exciting room in the place for sure!

Here is to safe travel for all involved and for the soon to be newly weds to have a great day and an even better lifetime!

My current worry about the trip is about golfing. I once was a talented golfer but have not played much in recent years and worry that my game has fallen and will be an embarrassment in front of all the men. I can only hope that the rest suck as much as I do or at least have the patience to deal with it.

P.S. Since I will be headed to the currently unstable country of Mexico I should probably end this by saying I love all the people that I have in my life, just in case I get murdered.

The Royal Wedding

So all the craze these days is over the Royal wedding. The today show had their two main anchors over there and there was also an episode of The Middle dedicated to the mom watching the wedding. These a obviously just a couple of examples of the craze currently in effect.

Now onto my perspective of this event. Its a wedding of two strangers that I don't care about. So ultimately I don't care about it one way or the other since it really has no bearing on anything in my life. The only reason I have a slightly negative slant on it is because of the amount of media hype surrounding this everyday event(since people that I don't know are getting married every day).

On a side note, I'm all for people being happy and if a couple you don't know getting married makes you happy then more power to you.

Now I really don't have any expertise when it comes to the British government but Based on a quick google search only the Queen of the Royal family has any real power. I saw that the queen has some power to approve things but if she were to actually interfere with parliament then it becomes a republic. So the royal family as a whole is just a relic of once upon a time that lives off the fortune that was built way back when. It seems to me they are nothing more then celebrities based on the family they were born into.

Also noted in the google search is that they get paid for a number of public appearances which reinforces my previous statement. They are the British equivalent to Paris Hilton, without the sex tape(keeping it classy). So as I respect the historic significance of their family and their country I really don't care about their wedding. I only write this blog because of the apparent hype the event is getting and I'm a little bored and might as well jump on the bandwagon.

In conclusion, I wish nothing but the best for this royal couple as I do every couple that gets married as it is a long tough road. I will not be viewing this event unless forced to by my wife and I definitely will not be ordering a commemorative tea set. I did however appreciate the fact that they did not want any presents but for any gifts to go toward charity.

Ideas

Blog ideas are a tricky thing for me. I have many random thoughts and ideas through out the day and occasionally think... I should blog about this. But after 5 minutes or so I've moved on and forgotten all about the idea and thus lose a potentially earth shattering (or at least entertaining) post.

When I started writing this post I was thinking of ideas of how to remember good blog ideas such as always having a note pad handy or using the notepad app on my phone. But just now I've decided that since I enjoy living my life in the moment I don't need to take time out just to try and remember a blog post idea. I'll just go with whatever comes naturally in its own time. I don't need to blog about everything and its really not worth me taking any extra measures to remember these ideas. I'm sure if they are monumental enough I will remember them and thus get them onto the blog.

This blog is not created for the masses (though I'm speaking as if to a crowd) it is for me to get some of the overflow of my own craziness into writing so that I can look back later and remember who I was/am. And if in the mean time those that I care about get a glimpse of what's going on in my head and are entertained then all the better.

Hope everyone had a Happy Resurrection Day!

Introduction

So to start off my new blog I'll introduce myself. I am Casey. I've been known to be a little weird or awkard but usually not in a horrible way just in a quirky way as the blog title would indicate. Many times in my life I will get lost in a train of thought and then decide to vocalize this final conclusion which in turn makes me sound random, which of course in the situation it is random and in turn makes me seem a little weird.

On to more biographical information. I am currently 26 years old (which is weird to me) and recently got married to a wonderful woman named Lora. We built a house in Wichita and are both Accountants. I was born in Wichita, KS and then moved to Garden City, KS for high school, as my mom married a nice gentleman out there. I've always enjoyed playing sports and as of late have not been able to partake in such activities, which is slightly disappointing.

I started college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and finished my undergrad at Kansas State University (Go Cats!). I then got my master's of Accountancy at Kansas State and am now a CPA in Wichita.

That gives you a general idea of where I'm coming from as I get into this blog. I don't expect too many followers as I'm an exciting accountant and not a great writer. I also don't currently have a clear direction for this blog so I'm thinking I'll just play it by ear and start out with random stories about my life, both past and present as I see fit. Here's to hoping it doesn't suck.
